What's happening in Chechnya ?
I have been praying for this former Soviet nation so that God may open its doors to the Gospel, train missionaries and provide them with resources.

Illegal worship prosecution rages on . .
The 600-strong congregation of New Life Church, Minsk has been worshipping at a disused cowshed ever since being barred from public facilities and is being prosecuted for worshipping in an illegal place. The head of Minsk religious affairs department said it was impossible to change the use of a cowshed, saying," read our laws". Asked which law forbids the conversion of cow sheds, she said Article 25 says exactly where you can pray and where you can't." Told that it did not mention cow sheds, she retorted: "It doesn't say you can't pray in casinos either, but people don't pray in casinos!" Questioned about a disused railway carriage used by an Orthodox community, she maintained that the parish was not worshipping in the carriage.

Faith, and twenty years perseverance . .
Dear Les and Pilar, thank you for all your prayers and support. I say to everybody who wants to know about our work, that it is by grace of God, and by one man and his wife who really help us that we are where we are today and those people are Les and Pilar. What I'm saying is true. I praise the Lord for that. I coordinate the teachers for our 650 children in Ouaga because without education, development will be difficult. In the bush school at Gourcy the children need a daily meal because they come from very far and this year because of the lack of rain, food like millet and maize is very expensive. People are coming to us to ask for food. We have 5 young widows at church who really need much prayers and I believe that the Lord can help them, as he did in 1 Kings 19 5-8.
Josephine Ouedraogo, AEAD, Ouagadougou.
http://www.aead.org.uk

§ Josephine's words about us are too kind by far, the truth is that Burkina Faso it is still one of the poorest, driest places on earth, and it is to the eternal credit of Josephine and her husband Philippe that they have stayed with their people in this desperately difficult country instead of moving to the West like so many have done. They are doing a really beautiful work in really adverse conditions. Some money to feed the Gourcy children is on its way to you every month from now on. Feel free to join with us if you wish, we could do a lot more if even one or two more people would work together with us.
Les and Pilar.

For me this is a scandal . .
Dear brothers and sisters, I have received an email from Spain promoting an evangelical church for gay people, male homosexuals and lesbians. So, I ask you to pray against this attempt to divert the evangelical Christian faith although I know some isolated cases where ministers and people just get caught in these awful practices.

George Verwer
George Verwer is the now retired founder of
Operation Mobilization and the Logos/Doulos ships

We in the Mission Mobilization Network are very committed to the local church. The Acts 13 concept is to see more local churches moving into global missions all over the world and this is happening.

I will soon complete 50 years of local church involvement, having had the privilege of ministering in thousands of churches around the world. I have made some mistakes along the way and have tried to learn from them. As we (and you) attempt to mobilize and work with local biblical and evangelical churches, here are some basics to keep in mind.

1. There are all kinds of churches so try to get as much information about the church and their history. Try to get to know the leaders and especially esteem them highly in love and reality.

2. Watch your own attitude and make sure you move in humility and love with the right attitude. If you have been hurt by a church or church leader make sure you have forgiven the people involved.

3. I believe different kinds of approaches and strategies are needed. There are more package mission programmes and God can use them, but they don’t work in every church. We must always keep in mind what they are already doing.

4. Try to encourage and affirm what they are already doing. Avoid being critical and judgmental about things that you feel are less than best.

5. Beware of creating unrealistic expectations or if you represent an Agency that wants recruits, promising more than your organization can really come up with.

6. We all need wisdom as we are facing so many great challenges and opportunities, but also many complexities and problems. Do everything you can to get key mission books and materials into the hands and hearts, especially the leaders.

7. Try to have a grace-awakened approach to the whole challenge. The first chapter of my book Out of the Comfort Zone speaks about this. I cannot emphasize this too much. Some missions speakers have really switched people off because even in their message there was a lack of love, grace and humility. We all have a degree of hostility and anger and we must beware it does not express itself in our message and ministry.

Armenian woman meets Jesus on her death bed
The doctors discharged an Armenian woman so that she could die at home. She was a Christian, at least in name, but her faith never meant much to her. One day while lying in bed waiting for her Muslim neighbours to visit her gaze wandered to a picture of Jesus on her wall. 'Why don't you help me?' she complained. Suddenly, Jesus started speaking. Somehow, he appeared in her room, and said 'I've been wanting to come to you, but you never invited me.' He touched her softly, and the woman gave him her life. Right then, the Muslim neighbours came in and they sensed that something was different. The room was still filled with the glory of Jesus' presence. They both fell to their knees, and the Armenian woman told them what had happened. The couple were so shocked that they both gave their lives to Jesus. Since then, nine of the husband's employees have also been saved." Source: Open Doors

Where can we get New Testaments ?
Negritos in Tlalixcoyan is a 500-strong village, 90% of whom live in dire poverty. We have seen the help of God as we take clothes, footwear, health care, medicines and food. Every year, we carry out an evangelistic campaign but we need more New Testaments to hand out. Where can we get them for free?

Whether you are just considering an outreach or are already ministering in North Africa, the Morocco Summit is for you. We invite you to meet together in the USA for two days in April to learn from one another and to explore together what has been done in the past and what might be done in the future. Would you like to meet us ?
In our 32 member church with we reach out to drug addicts and alcoholics, and organize a summers camp for children, holidays for singles, gifts for poor families and teach the not so clever children. We would like some fellowship with another country, people who want to start working with us in evangelism. Our church is poor and small and has many problems but we have hearts for lost people and we want to give for them the hope in Jesus.

Goats have opened the way . .
The groups of orphans who are now goat owners say they feel loved and united and they share their plight together as they meet in the groups. The goat project has demonstrated God's love in a practical way to these vulnerable people. The new church in Loro is growing in number daily because people believe that a true religion is that one which cares for orphans and widows. Jesus is being lifted up because we see that the orphans have a warm heart now, although they lost their parents to AIDS or to the rebels, they still have godparents who care for their future and love them. They are so much happy and appreciative for the DCI Trust for giving them goats. When they give back the first kid they will be free to sell the other kids and get the money to pay for their school fees, meet their basic needs and live a bit well.
Pastor George Purkweri, Lira

§ Ladies and gentlemen, see our goats and children and buy a goat (or two) for yourself or for your children for just £7 or $12. One goat gives milk to drink, fertilizer for crops, kids to sell and best of all gives hope and school fees to a young orphan.
Les and Pilar.

What to do when team relationships take a dive
Christians aren't always very good at dealing with conflict because there's often a reluctance to face up to a difficult situation and admit that we need help. This article by Chris Bocutt of Counselling, Psychotherapy and Mediation Services talks about disputes and conflicts. To be forewarned is to be forearmed, as they say.

Are you in Equatorial Guinea ?

One evening as I was praying, God whispered the name of Malabo and I want to see where this leads me. I also need photos, videos or PowerPoints of the tribes in the 10-40 Window ? Can you help me ?

§ Yes Jose, Bethany Prayer Fellowship have a fact sheet or every unreached tribe with a photo. Bethany and the Joshua Project are the best places in the world to go for this information.

For Church, Cell-group
and Missions Leaders

If you preach, just preach God's Message, nothing else;
If you help, just help, don't take over;
If you teach, stick to your teaching;
If you give encouraging guidance,
be careful that you don't get bossy;

If you're put in charge, don't manipulate;
If you're called to give aid to people in distress,
keep your eyes open and be quick to respond;
If you work with the disadvantaged,
don't let yourself get irritated with them or depressed by them.
Keep a smile on your face.

Love from the centre of who you are; don't fake it.
Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good.
Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.
Don't burn out; keep yourselves fuelled and aflame.
Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant.
Don't quit in hard times; pray all the harder.
Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality.

Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath.
Laugh with your happy friends when they're happy;
share tears when they're down.
Get along with each other; don't be stuck-up.
Make friends with nobodies; don't be the great somebody.
Don't hit back; discover beauty in everyone.
