AEAD Burkina Faso

AEAD is an evangelical relief and development organisation (a charity or NGO) working to improve the lives of the people of Burkina Faso through the love of God. Currently we are actively involved in education, training, food security and evangelism. Providing heath care and a clean water supply are also important parts of our strategy. We work within the local community for the highest benefit of everyone concerned.

Burkina Faso is a very dry, land locked country above Ghana and Ivory Coast in West Africa reaching into the southern part of the Sahara desert.  The nation was once known as Upper Volta, and is now democratic, peaceful, not corrupt and has a growing population of 12,000,000 people, 45% of whom live in absolute poverty level. The whole nation is faced with regular shortages of food and lack of educational and health facilities.

For nine years the AEAD ministry was located in Pastor Philippe's home before moving to its own office in January 2001, located in the capital city of Ouagadougou in the centre of the country.

Pastor Philippe and Josephine Ouedraogo founded AEAD together in 1992 with the help of a committee. Today both the AEAD staff and the local community members are joint owners of the vision as well as being beneficiaries.

Philippe and Josephine's children - Daniel, Muriel and Stephan are fully involved and a great help.

AEAD has become what its partners know is needed in Burkina Faso and have worked hard to make it an effective ministry. The present board has five members whose impact is very positive and appreciated both by local and national authorities.

AEAD was officially registered by the Burkina Faso government in April 1992 as a development organisation and is a permanent member of the Secretariat of NGO's, and as such may receive imported goods duty free.

From the very beginning AEAD's physical and spiritual development programmes  have reflected government national development policies and have gained the ministry a good reputation at local and national levels. As Christians we intentionally demonstrate the love of God across every racial or religious barrier.

We work by addressing the root causes of poverty together by fully involving and empowering the local community and drawing in the cooperation of other interested agencies or individuals.
