God Wants His Money Back

From the foreward . . .

The author, a young man who we know well has written, “God Wants His Money Back.”  He is a man of integrity and although he has no public platform, nor I imagine would he want one, he is as you will read, a man who knows what he believes from the Bible. He does what he writes, or as they say, he practices what he preaches.

He has taken a look around at the world and at the churches and has made his observations, some of which you will find provocative but don’t be surprised if you feel the need to make some changes in how your faith translates into your financial practices. I did !

From the Introduction

Outlined below are the main reasons that this book has been written.

1. To see money moved from the wicked world to the body of Christ
 (Proverbs 13:22, 28:8, Ecclesiastes 2:26 & Isaiah 60:11)

As we draw near to the end times, it would appear that these scriptures will be part of the inheritance that the church must take hold of and aggressively demand that the devil release.

 2. To see money moved from rich Christians to poor Christians.
(James 2:15-17 & 1 John 3:17-16-19)

It is scandalous that so much wealth of the body of Christ is firmly locked up in the bank accounts of unfruitful, self-satisfied, introverted churches in the West whilst fellow believers in Christ in poorer countries are in need. It is even worse that the most fruitful churches are generally in the poorer nations of Africa, Latin America and Asia but the rich, selfish, man-pleasing churches of the West do so little to invest their money where the fruit is. In particular; in these nations, a little Western money could go a long way and have a tremendous spiritual investment value.

3. To see money moved from the body of Christ into the work of Christ, instead of into worldly possessions. (Mark 4:18 & Luke 12:15)

These pages are further intended to be a loving rebuke (especially to rich Christians), to cause them to stop and think about their spending habits and to question whether the warning of Jesus about the desire for other things choking the word of God applies to them (Mark 4:18). Doubtless, untold amounts of money in the body of Christ has been spent on luxuries whilst multiplied millions around the world are struggling to have the bare necessities of life; and the work of God suffers from lack of funds .

4. To see money moved from the body of Christ away from unfruitful ministries Into fruitful ministries - in particular the Great Commission.  (James 1:27 & Matthew 28:19)

Money is poured into churches where church spires, organ repairs, large altars, air conditioning and even antique religious paintings take spending priority over filling the hungry bellies of orphans, looking after widows in their distress and caring for the sick, the hungry and thirsty, the naked and the lame, the oppressed and the prisoner. Many Christians are using their worldly wealth to gain bricks and mortar and church bells and ropes for themselves instead of the souls of lost people. Special mention needs to be made of the Great Commission that Jesus has given to all his followers to take the gospel to those ethnic groups who have not yet received it. It has been rightly argued that no-one should hear the gospel twice until every one has heard it once, and as such the supreme task of the church is the taking of the gospel to those people groupings who have not yet heard it.

5. To see money moved from the body of Christ in to the saving of souls of lost men and women.

As a result of the previous steps, not only will more money come into the body of Christ but it will be better spent and as a result many, many more people will come to Jesus. This then takes the whole process full circle and we come back to the first point that has been identified as whenever someone gets saved they bring their money with them, so that money (and lost people) are moved away from the wicked world into the body of Christ.
